Summer Is practically right Here! Summer is almost here! In only a few short weeks senior high school students across the country is happening summer break. We receive numerous concerns from students about what they should be doing over the summer. There truly is not one answer.

Having read 46,000 applications, an array has been seen by us of summer experiences that kids have embarked on. We’ve look over every thing from summer time programs at prestigious universities, to work that is gaining at their local mall, to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro (literally). We admire https://shmoop.pro/ students that pursue their interests.

Here is a list that is short of activities you could pursue:

  • Volunteer at a hospital, park, library, museum or aquarium
  • Become a Camp Counselor at a summer camp
  • Train to become a lifeguard at your pool that is local, or beach
  • Baby-sit your neighbor’s kid
  • Take a college-visit road trip
  • Serve up fro-yo at your local frozen yogurt store (get some work experience)
  • Sign up for a service or mission trip in america or abroad
  • Tutor younger students in your chosen topic
  • Have a course at your community that is local college college

Whatever you wind up carrying this out summer, be sure to pick a summer time activity predicated on what you love doing and not based on just how you think it shall look on your university applications.

Transfer Decisions

In about a week we are going to be transfer that is contacting regarding their application to USC. at this time a few students have heard of their admission. But, nearly all transfer applicants will receive a choice or perhaps a request to get more information on or by June 1st.

If a request is received by you for more information:

Generally, the extra information we demand are going to be your spring transcript with your last grades for the academic 12 months. This demand is not an indicator that the student is more apt to be admitted or perhaps not; rather it gives us by having a more complete academic history. As we get the information that is additional you should hear of a decision within 2 to 30 days.

If a letter is received by you of admission:

You will have two weeks to submit your commitment deposit if you are admitted to the fall term. During that two week period you should receive an aid that is financial (if you applied). You shall additionally want to register for orientation as soon as feasible. Finally, you should complete your housing application promptly, as space is limited for transferring students if you are interested in university housing.

Professional Development

Things have started to settle down across the working workplace now that all freshman decisions have been made. We’re still taking care of reviewing transfer files, but our staff recently took an instant trip to Reno, NV to attend a expert seminar.

While there, we attended sessions about various admission topics and best techniques, such as exactly how to deliver a highly effective school that is high, what forms of technology might be beneficial in the recruitment procedure, and exactly how to read university essays while knowing of our own private biases (positive or negative). The meeting also provided us a chance to get in touch with our peers from various parts of the national country, including many of your high school counselors. It was a great opportunity to share our own knowledge and expertise and learn from each other. Perhaps the most seasoned admission counselors on our staff learned something new at the seminar!

Summer is our opportunity to rest, review what we’ve learned over the past year, and prepare for the coming year. We hope you’re able to do the same through your summer time break!

Summer in the City

It’s officially summer in Southern California! Campus is just a bit quieter, the temperatures are becoming warmer, and a lot of importantly, the speed in our office has slowed down. We’re also advantage that is taking of downtime to explore l . a . and all that our city has to provide our pupils.

Like in previous summers, we’re utilizing the Summer Restaurant Series, prepared by some of our very own peers, to explore the cuisine that is local. Just month that is last we ventured to 23rd St. Café in USC’s yard. This restaurant that is unique United states, Indian, and Mexican food, also some fusion dishes. The Chicken Tikka Masala quesadilla was quite popular in our group! For the 2nd food outing, our restaurant series took us to Umamicatessen. According to the internet site, this location is ‘inspired by worldwide street bazaars and also the classic American delicatessen’ while offering 5 different kitchens serving up diverse kinds of food within a hall that is dining within the Orpheum Theatre. A few of our dishes that are favorite this outing were the truffle fries, made-to-order donuts, and various forms of Umami’s specialty: burgers.

Besides eating our way through some of LA’s notable restaurants, we’ll spend time during July and August going to events that are cultural checking out historic spots around the town. Some activities we’ll experience include a guided tour of the Disney Concert Hall and Music Center, enjoying the Downtown LA Art Walk, and hopping regarding the newly opened Expo line to just take the train to the Culver City Farmers Market.

What restaurants, tasks, and outings do you enjoy around Los Angeles? Inform us within the reviews section—maybe we could add your suggestion to our list this summer!
